Biography
Kimberly A. Gilmour counsels corporate and individual clients on employment and business matters. Her practice emphasizes a preventative approach to employment issues, including training for executives, supervisors, and managers on topics such as interviewing, hiring, and sexual harassment. She counsels clients regarding compliance for workforce issues and also provides guidance for employment handbooks, manuals, policies, procedures, contracts, and training. Her extensive litigation experience includes cases alleging age, sex, race, and disability discrimination, as well as handling numerous administrative matters before federal and state agencies. She has also handled issues involving landlord/tenant, real estate, and contract disputes. Kimberly has an extensive background in drafting and reviewing contracts and agreements.
Kimberly brings a keen understanding of the effect of conflict on a company's bottom line -- and the benefits of mediation. She is a Florida Supreme Court certified mediator for circuit and county court, and serves as public arbitrator for the National Association of Security Dealers and the Better Business Bureau-Auto Line. In March 2001, she completed the Florida Supreme Court Certified Arbitrator Training Program.
An established leader in both her profession and the community, Kimberly was the chair of the newly created Equal Opportunities in the Profession Section of the Florida Bar and has served as president of the Broward County Women Lawyers. She is also active in the American and Broward County Bar Association, the Society for Human Resource Managers, and the National Association of Female Lawyers. She is the past president of the Healthy Mothers-Healthy Babies Coalition of Broward County, Inc., and she is a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). In recognition of her community leadership, Kimberly recently received NAWBO's VISTA Award, and was named among the American Cancer Society's "Women of the Year" for 2000.
